You can reach Lech am Arlberg by car on winter-safe roads. Please note that winter tires and snow chains in the trunk are part of the equipment for a trip to the Alps. Freeways and expressways in Austria are subject to tolls. Vignettes can be purchased at filling stations.
Travel via the Lechtal (Bregenzerwald) is only possible in summer, as this road is closed in winter. To avoid traffic jams on your journey, we have the following tip especially for arrivals and departures on Saturdays (peak season): You should reach the Feldkirch – Lech (coming from the west) or Imst – Lech (coming from the east) sections of the route between 9.30 am and 2 pm. On the return journey, the time between 10.30 and 15.00 is “prone to traffic jams”.
